Pranburi is located only 30 minutes south of Hua Hin, Thailand and it is becoming known as an up and coming beach tourist area on the Gulf of Siam. Although it doesn’t have the popularity of Hua Hin or the accessibility of Pattaya, it has a lot to offer for visitors. Pranburi boasts a laid back and relaxed environment, beautiful beaches, reasonably priced resorts, excellent views and much more.
Pranburi has become a lot more popular with tourists and international visitors over the last few years, but it still isn’t as developed at Hua Hin. Its beaches are cleaner and quieter and the views are more pristine and beautiful. Could this destination be the next Hua Hin? Why not escape to peaceful Pranburi and see for yourself?
How to Get There
It’s not very difficult to get to Pranburi, it’s only a 30 minute drive south from Hua Hin. From Bangkok, this destination can be reached in approximately 3.5 hours by car – depending on the traffic. There is also a daily train from the Hua Lampong Station in Bangkok. You can also find many private mini buses that make the trip from Bangkok to Pranburi on a daily basis – which can usually be arranged by your hotel.
Pretty Beaches and Swaying Palm Trees
The beach at Pranburi is much less developed than Hua Hin, offering relaxing views of islands and rock formations. There is no bustling central beach area like Hua Hin, the atmosphere is mostly mellow and relaxing. If you want to spend your holiday reading a book and soaking up the sunshine, this will be just the right pace for you. If you want more of a social, party atmosphere you might find this beach a little too slow for your tastes.
What to Do in Pranburi?
If you get bored of swimming and sunbathing, you might want to also take a walk in nearby Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park – which is one of Thailand’s gorgeous beach national parks. The name of the park translates as “Three Hundred Peaks”, which refers to the many limestone mountains in the region. Here you will a lush and green paradise filled with marshes, caves, trails and protected beaches.
You could also take one day of your holiday and rent a motorbike or a pushbike. This is a great way to explore the scenery around the area at your own pace and many places will rent a pushbike for only around 100 baht per day.
Another fun activity to enjoy during your Pranburi holiday is fishing. There are fishing expeditions that will allow you to experience fishing and bring back your own catch for dinner. Pranburi is also a popular golf destination and there are seven world-class courses all within one hour’s drive. After all of this excitement, you could also consider relaxing at one of the many excellent spas in the area.
